We were awarded our 12th Green Flag from An Taisce recently. As a committed Green School, the staff and pupils worked hard on their recent project, Global Citizenship – Travel. We celebrated our award with a trip on the Viking Boat. What better way to spend an afternoon together 🙂
We were honoured and delighted that members of Clann na nGael Club came to our school today to congratulate us on our school centenary. Among them was past-pupil David Flynn and he presented us with a fabulous photo of him lifting the Tom Markham cup in the 2006 All-Ireland Minor Final. It will take pride […]
We celebrated our school centenary on Friday – 100 years of Clonown N.S. We had a marquee at the back of the school and parents, neighbours, past-pupils and friends came to join us. Speakers on the day were Eva Dalton (6th class), Jackie Cunningham (past-pupil) and Rosaleen Fallon (local historian and friend of the school). […]
Pupils in the Senior Room went to David Walliams’ ‘Gansta Granny’ in the Olympia Theatre. It was a brilliant show. We went to ‘Billionaire Boy’a couple of years ago and loved that too. We can’t wait for the next production. There is nothing like a live performance.
We had a brilliant Sports Day again this year. We had full use of Clonown Sports Field and the Community Centre and we were very grateful. The children took part in soccer, Gaelic, rounders, races (running, egg & spoon, sack race and three-legged race), musical chairs and olympic handball. Lauren from Rinka also came and […]
3rd to 6th class really enjoyed their school tour today to Tayto Park. It was a lovely, sunny day and everything went so well. We went on lots of the amusement rides, enjoyed looking at the animals in the zoo and had fun in the playground. We’ll all sleep tonight! 🙂
Our pupils in 2nd – 6th Class enjoyed a day out at TUS Athlone recently when they attended a ‘Sing Ireland’ Workshop there. It was brilliant. Music is a very important part of our lives at Clonown N.S. We take part in Music Generation and all pupils get the opportunity to learn a string instrument […]
Our girls had a great time at the Roscommon LGFA blitz today in Ballyleague. We were delighted to team up with Grange N.S. and the girls had four matches together. Thanks sincerely to Shane Curran and all those involved in making today such a success. We’ll definitely be back for the next blitz.

Our 6th class girls praised and encouraged the younger players throughout the whole match. The boys clapped and cheered from the sideline. Very wet conditions today but a great […]
