We are preparing to sing and play music at this years First Holy Communion. Music is an integral part of our school day. We learn the tin-whistle in school each Wednesday. We take part in an annual Christmas Show in the hall and the Feile Ceoil in the Dean Crowe Theatre.

On our last day of school in 2016 we went on a school outing. We went to Retreat Nursing home to perform our Christmas show for the people there. We really enjoyed our visit. We then went to the library and to St. Peter’s Church to see the crib. We finally went to MacDonalds to celebrate […]
Our Christmas show was a great success. The pupils really enjoyed performing on the stage in our local Community Centre. We donated the proceeds from our concert to the Midland Simon Community. We thank all the parents and the community for their help and support.
The whole school went on a Viking Boat tour to Clonmacnoise in November. It was the final sailing of the season. We learned about Clonmacnoise in school and we were then delighted to see the monastic site for ourselves. We were excited to see our school from the river on our journey. Â
Pupils in 5th & 6th Class went to Sligo to visit the Holy Well, Tobarnalt, and the Holy Door at the Cathedral. The children wrote down all the towns and villages that they went through along the way and this formed the basis of our Geography lesson this week. The children had a great day […]
 Safer Cycling Initiative came to our school in September and did a workshop on safer cyclng. We had a brilliant day. We even went for a cycle around Ballinaculla.
Pupils in the Senior Room went to Athlone Community Radio. They met the radio D.J. Pete Casey. They learned about the work of a D.J. They were interviewed on the radio and they also played the tin whistle. A sixth pupil played a tune on the banjo. The children really enjoyed the morning.
