To celebrate the week of the Easter holidays, pupils in the Junior Room enjoyed a trip to Glendeer Pet Farm. They had a brilliant day there as always. We are very lucky to have this great amenity so close to our school.

Spring has truly arrived this week! We enjoyed the lovely weather and decided to start our planting for spring/summer. We planted lots of different herbs, cosmos and sunflowers so far. We got the sunflower seeds from the flowers which we planted last year.
Our Green School’s Officer, Ciaran, came to our school to talk to us about his cycle from Japan to Ireland. The journey lasted 6 months and he travelled through 14 countries. The children in the Senior Room received a Science Kit from Cell Explorers at NUI Galway. We had great fun extracting DNA from a pumpkin, especially for Halloween! We learned all about living things and how we all have our own DNA.
Pupils in the Senior Room have organised a Walk on Wednesday event each week. We all walk from the church together in the morning and back again for 3pm. This is part of our Green School Project, Travel Theme. It’s a lovely initiative and we are all really enjoying it.
This year both classrooms went separately to Westshore Survival camp in Monksland. The children had a brilliant day and we cannot recommend this local outdoor camp highly enough. The pupils in our Junior Room enjoyed a cycling workshop with Brendan recently. They learned alot about safer cycling and they had great fun. We are very lucky that we have loads of space on our school grounds. The children had a ball on their bikes and scooters. Thank you Brendan! 🙂
