Safer Cycling Initiative came to our school in September and did a workshop on safer cyclng. We had a brilliant day. We even went for a cycle around Ballinaculla.

Pupils in the Senior Room went to Athlone Community Radio. They met the radio D.J. Pete Casey. They learned about the work of a D.J. They were interviewed on the radio and they also played the tin whistle. A sixth pupil played a tune on the banjo. The children really enjoyed the morning.
The children in the Junior Room went to the Luan Gallery. They were shown around the gallery and learned about the exhibition there. Then they did an art workshop downstairs. They made a collage using recycled paper and card. They had a brilliant day.
During the cold weather we are very mindful of the poor birds and we are trying to feed them as much as we can. Here are the lovely bird feeders that the children made in school.
We are very proud that a pupil from our school came 3rd Place in the recent Art Competition in the Athlone Advertiser. This is her fabulous picture as printed in the newspaper.
We went to St. Peter and Paul’s church to see the lovely crib and to have a prayer service before our Christmas break. We lit candles for the children in our school. We had a lovely time.
Second Class girls learned how to knit this term. They made lovely Christmas jumpers and scarves for their teddies. Well done girls!

We went to Fantastic Physics in Athlone I.T. for Science week. The pupils love science and really enjoyed the show. Many of our pupils were brought up to help in the demonstrations!
Pupils in the Junior Room went to a show, A Hippo for Christmas, in the Dean Crowe Theatre. The children had a great time singing along to the popular Christmas songs. We each got a free copy of the book by the same name to bring home.
