We went to Fantastic Physics in Athlone I.T. for Science week. The pupils love science and really enjoyed the show. Many of our pupils were brought up to help in the demonstrations!

Pupils in the Junior Room went to a show, A Hippo for Christmas, in the Dean Crowe Theatre. The children had a great time singing along to the popular Christmas songs. We each got a free copy of the book by the same name to bring home.

We received our National Flag recently. A 6th class pupil read a piece from the Proclamation. Another 6th Class pupil accepted a copy of the Proclamation on behalf of the school. Second class are preparing for their First Holy Communion in May. They are following the Do This in Memory of Me programme. Pupils get involved in Sunday mass in Clonown with the Readings, Responsorial Psalm, Prayers of the Faithful and the Offertory Procession. This is a very special year for the children.

We went to Athlone Castle before the Mid-term break. We were shown around that castle museum and we also completed a history & maths trail. It was brilliant fun and we learned so much. We are so lucky to have this great facility in our town.

We are delighted that our school was chosen as a pilot-school for the new O.K. Kids Anti-Bullying Programme. The programme is run by the National Anti-Bullying Coalition and is part funded by Roscommon County Council. We had the launch of our new Care Programme recently and it was a great success. Congratulations to sixth class pupils who made their Confirmation in St.Peter’s Church. The children were very lucky to be confirmed by our Chairperson, Canon Liam Devine in his new role as Vicar General. He made the occasion so special for the children.  

We went to the Recycling Centre in Golden Island as part of our Green School’s Project. Our theme is Litter and Waste Globally. We hope to receive our 9th Green Flag with this project.
